 I don't agree ! it takes me sometime years to understand Initials like
IDE , SATA etc....

Initials have been introduced by technocrats and aren't a natural way of going 
around with a language especially a very rich language like arabic.

abbreviations traditionally are not used ( implemented ? ) and
 accepted in arabic language.

 يا سيدي هل يوجد أغنى من اللغة العربية للمعاني . فكل اللغات إستعارة كلمات من 
العربية لأنها من أوائل اللغات المنتشرة تاريخياً

  accepted in the spoken arabic ( 3aamiet ) but no serious arabic writer or 
newspaper uses it

 what is the problem with this translation IP=مراسم الإنترنت

 well make your own experience ! ask in your circle of friends and people 
around you  if they really know what IP means  (or any other Initials IDE, 
SATA, HD, RAM SDRAM etc...) !
