Re: hdate question

I do not know who owns the original source code. But I do know this;
hdate was a clean up /redesign from another source by Muhanna (a
Professor at Ohio state).

I think the original source belongs to Kamal Abdali, the author of
Minaret, once popular prayer time program for Machintosh ( in early
nineties). He did port the source to Windows. I still have that
program in my collection. For some reason, I never contacted him, and
I don't know where he is at currently (he was in Washington, DC
before. I studied in DC, but never meet a person by that name , sadly)

Mr Muhanna (I think Waleed Muhanna) is the person ported that code (I
think) to become the hdate program. It got very popular, and being
used by many application, but without his consent. I once ported that
source to pure javascript ( a fun thing to do) to be able to run it
using a browser (without server, of course). I contacted him about
license, and he told be something like Nadim mentioned before. Untill
now, I have to code with me, but not distributed to anyone else.

Perhaps anyone who knows either Mr Kamal Abdali or Mr Waleed Muhanna
(anyone from Ohio State?) can help.

Regards.

He was contacted a long time ago and the reply was something akin
to (and I'm para-phrasing) 'I will not release it under open source'
and 'do not use my application' - which was the impetus to start
the Islamic Tools and Libraries (ITL) project [1]. With ITL you
will find something similar (superior even) via 'idate' and 'ical'.
