i was just saying that most people don't even understand these Initials
completely.
the original use of Initials was such that if someone is writing a technical
or a scientific report and he doesn't want to repeat terms he cites the
object the first time completely then he adds a conventional shortcut.
he then referes to these initials further in the report to gain time and Ink.

the probem is that this behaviour has been extended to all technical
literature for time and costs reason, but nobody really likes or understands
them

as an example could you now tell me on the flight the meanings of these
Initials ? without having any doc at hand .

IDE =
SATA =
SDRAM =

HD = hard disk or hard drive ?

ambiguous ! ambiguous !

So you think saying "Serial Advanced Technology Attachment" is better than just "SATA", "GNU Object Model Environment" is better than "GNOME" and "GNU's Not Unix" is better than "GNU" ?
