(Note this e-mail is to be read in conjuction with the thread: The distro project: Linux Arabization Standards) The following applications are candidates for the must or critical BiDi Library: fribidi - must I18N library: pango - must Text UI library: ncurses - must (Arabic not implemented) Terminal Emulator: mlterm, gnome-terminal - must Spelling Checker: duali - critical Editor: vim - must GUI editor: katoob - critical Fonts: Khotot, KCAST - must Window Manager: fvwm, metacity, kwin, xfce - must Text Processing: ArabTex - critical Mail client: Evolution, KMail, mutt(?) - must Officeware: OpenOffice, KOffice - must Browser: Mozilla, Konqueror - must Messenger: gaim - must Programming Language: C, Python - must (don't know why) These are all the programs that Arabic people need or will need in the near future. If I forgot something please remind me. I will have some modifications before I declare it final tomorrow. If these are the only requirements then I believe all distros will qualify to gold status.
