Dear Anmar , let me thank u first because u r the only one who is responding to my e-mails ...
Now as far as localizing is concerned yes we want to localize kedit , open office the desktop startup menus and thats it (we have got the .mo files for these ) ....we have to remove every other thing from the CD ... actually we are working on live CD KNOPPIX ... u might have heard abt a process known as remastering the CD ... its a sort of customization...( I can give u more details regarding it if u like )
Currently the CD does not support Urdu we don't know what to do inorder to display Urdu ... we've done urdu translation for gedit in desktop linux (gnome) , over there we just add a ur folder in /usr/share/locale/ then we write "emacs /profile" in root shell which opens emacs then we set "export LC_ALL=ur_PK" save the current buffer and then write localedef -c -f UTF-8 -i ur_PK ur_PK in root shell then we reboot it works... and displays the gedit menus in urdu ... but that was because gnome supported arabic and since arabic and urdu fonts resemble very much it worked ...
in Knoppix which is KDE based there is no support for arabic too ... so thats why i just wanted to ask what steps should I take inorder to get some of the above applications in urdu ...
I am sure i am specific and clear now ... I wonder if u can help us regarding it ... I'll be waiting for ur reply desparetly..
Regards and Allah hafiz...
