Hi,
There is a patch for mplayer which enables hebrew titles. It's does not
support arabic yet, but in future this will hopefully change. Actually the
patch exists since march 2003, all you need to do is configure with
"--enable-fribidi":
http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-dev-eng/2003-March/017136.html
About arabic (to the arabeyes people here):
This patch (already in the stable versions) handles hebrew only, see how it's
done and hack it the same way. If you don't see the arabic joined (probably
it will be the case) just wait for Behdad to release the next generation
fribidi, which will handle also handle arabic joining.
If it's stable maybe mdk can rip this of the cvs or something.
While you are there, look loot at this screen shot:
http://zcn.cdedicated.com/hebmp.png
You will see that the direction (at least for hebrew) is wrong: since windows
cannot auto detect text direction like fribidi does, most windows subs use
(wrongly) an ltr direction. What you need to do is in file subreader.c change
from:
base = FRIBIDI_TYPE_ON;
to
base = FRIBIDI_TYPE_L;
That will fix this problem.
