Re: xfree86 font issue

Hey!
It seems font subsetting is already implemented, and it seems the bdftruncate
stuff is still left there only because they feel better with it when it comes
to their legacy clients.
http://www.xfree86.org/pipermail/i18n/2002-January/002799.html and following
That leaves us with only two choices:
1) convince them to integrate a glyph file of ours, that we'd use for rendering
glyphs.
2) consider that every box that will need Arabic under X will use Pango (not
necessarily true but we can reasonably assume it since Pango is toolkit
independent and lies directly on top of X. We'd therefore make it THE mandatory
standard for Arabic, knowing that we'll have to make a choice sooner or later
for which Arabization library will be the standard since X has none in standard
that answers our needs, i.e. rtl, bidi, shaping...), and convince Owen Taylor
who imho will be a lot more responsive to our needs.
Unless you see something I don't, you guys pick up one of these two. I
personally vote for 2...

Chahine
