kde/kdenetwork/kopete.po errors

Salam,

Munzir, I hope you do read your mail while committing (it would be a
good idea, since I am usually watching you as you do them and might have
instant feedback). IRC would even be better ;)

The errors in kopete.po were:
---
elzubeir at grumpy:~/cvs/arabeyes/translate/kde/kdenetwork$ msgfmt
kopete.po
kopete.po:10095: `msgid' and `msgstr' entries do not both end with '\n'
kopete.po:10113: `msgid' and `msgstr' entries do not both end with '\n'
kopete.po:10570: `msgid' and `msgstr' entries do not both end with '\n'
msgfmt: found 3 fatal errors
---

This is telling you that the translated string (msgstr) has a '\n' which
does not exist in the original string (msgid). And you are right (as per
your cvs commit logs), it has to do with pluarl forms, indirectly.

What happens is, when there is a string that requires plural forms, it
begins with '_n'. The string always ends with '\n'. But, this is not the
string to translate, it is the one directly after it. So, if the string
below ends with a '\n' so be it, if not, there shouldn't be on in the
translation.

I explained this briefly in the cvs commit log, but thought others might
want to know this when it comes up during their translation. If someone
would like to see examples of this, they can simply have a look at the
kde/kdenetwork/kopete.po file.

Regards,
Mohammed Elzubeir
