hi... have anyone of you tried to print and arabic text with gedit,
evolution-1.5 or abiword-2.1? i just get rubbish or arabic being typed
from left to right with no-ligatures. is it a known gnome bug?
As far as I can remember in Fedora Core 1, gedit produced .PS files to
be sent to the printer ( I mean lp/lpr), the .PS files that gedit
generated were not shaped !!!
i have a complete gnome 2.6.1 installation with debian testing/unstable.
How does gnome do its printing ? Do the applications themselves
pre-process/format the docs or do they hand 'em over to another
process (like CUPS or ...) to take care of ?
As I said above, gedit writes a .PS file and prints that, so if gedit
wrote correct output (i.e .PS with shaped arabic, but thats not the
case) it should print nicely.
I know CUPS was (is?) being worked on my Mr. Ahmad.Khalifa (where art
thou my man :-) and he had some wonderful results and needed more testers
hehe, I'm sorry, I just got stuck with the graduation project, and
Mandrake 10 wasnt really helpfull, it didnt have a new version of
autoconf tools or something... anyway I'm downloading Fedora 2, and
finishing up on my Graduation Project, its due in about 20 days, so
expect me soon !!!
btw, the current CUPS patch should work fine, except for it needing the
new minibidi :) CUPS-1.2.x is still a while away, its not even in beta
last I checked
