Re: Arabbix (mini) report

Great Job Ossama as always:

Man you rock.. good point all out... I have 0.6 out by the end of today so you can test this one as well...

Here is some of my answers to your queries:

Salam,
First of all, sorry for the delay about this report.
Also, it's just a _mini_ report as the subject says.
I tried Arabbix for almost an hour only (the story
follows) and here's some feedback:
1- Overall, the distro is really fast and cool. It
took less than a minute to fully boot on a PIII+512MB
machine, and some less seconds on a PIV+256MB with

It would be nice to know what Build are you working from ? 0.4 or 0.5 silly man :)

excellent H/W detection.
2- Once booted, if you press F2 and back to F2, you'll
get a red background only, but no image.

That is a known bug/limitation I am working with the morphix team on how to fix it.

3- Trying to pass the 'morphix toram' doesn't work at
all. i tried it on three machines (different configs)

That is news to me. I will check with Morphix first and see there bug sytem

4- While booting, the messages shows always complained
about /proc/splash missing. Also, only a Compaq Evo
(PIV), the first message appears:'Only one cpu
found.', which could mean it can't take advantage of
PIV's Hyperthredding feature.

I think it displays this meesage to tell you that the MSP did not detect another CPU ... not sure... but it is not important now.

5. Once booted into the graphical interface, it looks
really amazing. One you start using the
applications...

Thanks alot :)

6. GAIM, which is fully Arabized, shows the text as
boxes (wrong charset of .po file), and XChat isn't
fully Arabic too. Both of them need to be
right-to-left.

Fixed that .. GAIM looks awsome.. works like a charm

Well, really sorry, but I was so STUPID to delete the new version of the .iso image, instead of the old one. Also, I gave the CD I burned to a friend to give it a test (after I recognized what I did) and couldn't get hold of him to continue testing it :(

Anyway, I would really like to test it more but seems
like I'll wait till the upcoming version.

Apologies...

Ossama
