Waseem, have you given much thought to a 2-D or 3-D cartoon-type character
as a potential mascot (logo) - a'la mozilla's dragon ? It would bring some
humor and immediate recognition more so than something abstract, no ?

www.gimp.org or www.gnome.org or www.redhat.com are some good examples.

A few suggestions/ideas,
 + a feisty camel
+ a bulged-eyed linux user (after all the site has "eyes" in it :-) with
   arabic head-dress
+ a profile view of a person following the contours of the isolated
Arabic letter "ain" (small semi-circle on-top represnets the eye, the
larger semi-circle on-bottom the nose; include a protruding smile though
a heavy mustache and the words "arabeyes.org" as the contrours of the
back of the head -- slap on a topee (or hair) and you've got a person :-)
