Salam all.
After various conversations on IRC with Mr. Chahibi regarding
translation issues and post injecting my rather biased view on what
priorities are (or should be :-), I've once again started looking
into the wordlist's contents and with Mr. Chahibi's advice will be
doing the following,
1. Incorporating more terms (english words from wordnet) that will
need to be translated. This will come in the form of a check-in
very soon. Expect approx 38,400 new entries !!
2. We'll be adding a "category field" - the field will be part
of the .pot/.po files. The syntax will become apparent once
a couple of examples are studied (in short each 'msgid' will
be preceded by a comment noting the categories and per the
number of category entries that's how many 'msgstr' will be
expected). For now we'll simply have two categories (akin to
general and computer or similar).
3. I'll need to make the proper modifications in QaMoose and miniQ
to take advantage of the categories (in both display and search);
this might take some time to get right.
As noted I'll be addressing point-1 above very soon and I'll mail again
regarding point-2 once all is in place - so don't forge any new roads
just yet and work on simply translating the terms that are there now
in a general context.
PS: Keep in mind that the wordlist is a static project meaning once
its complete it will always be complete (there won't be a need
to revisit all the entries for each release ;-)
Salam.
- Nadim
