Well, Mohammed E. will confirm (or not :-) but touching the CVS Rep should 
happen on very rare occasions. Emptying the corresponding directory from its 
contents (files) should usually be enough (those contents are put in the 
Attic/ and thus we can keep track of history etc). From the client side, 
doing 'cvs update -Pd' should "remove" the empty directories (they are 
removed from the local copy but they are kept on the repository).
