Re: where have all the translators gone ..

OK, Hisham replied to your questions but I wanted to add few notes:

1- remember that you should do an update to the CVs before any commit .. and
in cases where there is conflict you have to fix those conflicts ..

2- As Hicham said, you can know what files needs translation by going to :

http://arabeyes.org/misc/kde_status_bar.html

another offline method that you can go from linux is to use the 'msgfmt
--statistics file.po' .. that will give you the status for the file you are
asking for .. the command 'msgfmt' is a part of the gettext package, make
sure to havethe version 0.10.40 at least ..

3- strings that are highlighted as fuzzy can be known if they have the word
'fuzzy' in the comment before it .. in case you encounter fuzzy strings, read
carefully the original string (msgid ) , then read the translated string (
msgstr) then make your changes in the translated string to make it accurate ,
and then remove the fuzzy flag from the comment above the the strings.. look
at the example below:

#: common_texts.cpp:77 rc.cpp:1 rc.cpp:16 rc.cpp:20 rc.cpp:23 rc.cpp:26
#: rc.cpp:32 rc.cpp:34 rc.cpp:35
#, fuzzy
msgid "&File"
msgstr "ملف"

after fixing the string (adding the messing '&' , and removing the fuzzy
flag) it will be as follows:

#: common_texts.cpp:77 rc.cpp:1 rc.cpp:16 rc.cpp:20 rc.cpp:23 rc.cpp:26
#: rc.cpp:32 rc.cpp:34 rc.cpp:35
msgid "&File"
msgstr "&ملف"

Take care not to remove the line that have the word fuzzy in all cases, as in
some strings the comment line could be as follows :

#, c-format , fuzzy

To remove the fuzzy flag in this case me it as follows:

#, c-format

About selecting a file to work on .. currently there is new files in the
translate/kde/kdebase .. those files requires translations .. and there is
some added strings to already existing files, and additions to some fuzzy
strings.. You need to open a file .. and go through it (from top to down, or
the other way) to check every fuzzy translation and fix it, and to add
translations for the new strings .. an easy way to do that in your text
editor is to search for the word 'fuzzy' in the file.

I hope that things are clear now, and please ANYONE that have any question
come forword and ask .. but please provide comprehensive information in your
question to make answering it faster and accurate and easier.
