Hi,
Just a word about other calendars used. There is the Persian Calendar.
The Persian calendar called Jalaali (by O. Khayyam) is a Solar-based
calendar that starts on the first day of spring (~march 21st) and has months
of 31 or 30 days long.
I know it is (was?) official in Iran but I don't know if people use it
outside Iran and in the eastmost Arab countries. Maybe it is used in
Afghanistan and in the surrounding countries.
Regards,
Youcef rahal.
