to log to the server you need an IRC client such as Xchat or KSirc in Linux 
(Graphical Interface) or BitchX for console ..
when you run the client you connect to the server by :
/connect irc.openprojects.org

and log to the channel by : 
/join #arabeyes
to choose a nickname you use : /nick NewNick

and to quit use : /quit
