mmh! that is a very common problem with mandrake[1], I do not know why
they add this extra service, well change the /etc/sysconfig/desktop to
another desktop manager (GNOME :)), restart it , it may work, as it did
work once
for the same similar problem. or try disabling the dm service, stopping
it and starting it

[1]mandrake is very very flaky indeed, i do not know why would any one support it.
