Re: Newbie - Introduction

As experience will prove, the best IDE for Linux and other "UNIX" platforms will be conglomorate of shells available. However, if you do wish to use an IDE, there are several free IDEs. If you are a MSVC lover then I would go for Anjuta (certainly the best graphical IDE) or kdevelop. Emacs is also a nice "IDE", but not something a long-lasting Windows user would use.

Regarding your CVS problem, if you do not have CVS access and just wish to checkout some modules login as anonymous. Please look at Mr.ElZubeir's http://www.arabeyes.org/howto/howto-cvs/node3.html

Best regards

Peace be unto one and all

My name is Faaiez.
I am new to the world of programming in Linux and thought it would be a
good learning opportunity for myself to register on to a project which I
can provide some assistance. I currently work as a systems analyst and
have programmed in C about 8 years ago. As you can imagine my C is
rusty. So to help me on the way.

1) Are there any IDE tools that one can use or can anyone recommend a
good one, or is this not recommended.

2) I've tried to login to CVS but get the following error:
no such user mun in CVSROOT/passwd (mun = my user name)

Regards

Faaiez
