Re: Quran font release

Meor,

I didn't realize that you made the fonts for Windows. I thought they would work in Linux as well. Most fonts I have seem to work in both. I will try your fonts again in Windows XP. I don't have MS Word, but maybe they will work in WordPad or emeditor with the standard MS Arabic keyboard. I've never used the MS Keyboard Layout Creator. In Linux it is easy to edit an existing keyboard file, but I've never figured out how to create an entirely new keyboard.

First thing first. I do not have a linux system currently, so cannot
test it under linux.

About keyboard, I created my own keyboard layout under windows using
MS Keyboard Layout creator. Basically, you can assign any unicode code
to any keystroke. You just need to change the keyboard layout
(software).

About the line spacing. People are saying they have problem using
gedit, but firefox is OK. I don't have the recourses at the moment to
investigate why iut happens, but I suspect it has something to do with
gedit. It works ok under Windows (most application using uniscribe or
gdiplus).

Regards.

Meor,

I downloaded your Qur'an font and installed it on Debian Linux.
I could not get it to work in Open Office or in Katoob, but it did work in
gedit and kedit. I noticed, however, that there is not enough line
spacing for the font. The tops and bottoms of some letters get cut off.
That was also a problem with your other font, I believe. And how does one
use the font to type the Qur'an? I only tried it out with regular imla'i
Arabic. Do you have a special keyboard to use with it?
