First of all, it's great to see these discussions stirred. I hope we can agree on this licensing problem. Second, I dont think we should release the code under a modified GPL license. The code should just be GPL, it's the data that should be license protected. Perhaps, the data should be released under CC-by-nd license. I am not sure yet, if we *can* license the data to protect it.
