Salam everyone For the distro project we would like to know which packages would you like to see in an Arabic-friendly distro; so we can include them in the application lists. Please include the following information about any suggested package: - Category (editor/browser/officeware/etc) - Name (katoob/mozilla/etc) - Degree of importance (one of: critical/important/good/nice) - Status with respect to Arabic - preferably, the version The degree of importance usually characterizes the category rather than the specific package. The category will serve as a virtual package in debian. e.g. browser(critical) means that either mozilla, konqueror, galeon must be there if they are the packages in category browser. As an example: katoob: BiDi editor, katoob, critical, good Arabic support. openoffice: officeware, openoffice, important, good Arabic support, version 1.1 RC3 This means that katoob or one of its replacements is a must for a distro, openoffice or a replacement (maybe koffice) should be there. And remember, this does not include every single Linux package out there. Just because many of us like chess does not mean that xboard should be arabized;) Random: A Municipality must act fairly in the tendering process but is not required to accept the lowest tender. -- Muhammad Abdulmuneim Alkarouri Teaching Assistant Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty of Engineering and Architecture University of Khartoum Khartoum, Sudan
