I didn't find time to look at the code. but I guess that we should merge with aspell.
We can write a plugin fr aspell or whatever so duali can check whether the word is correct or not. if it fails then we can use the prefix/suffix method of aspell and finally fail back to a list of predefined words.
As for the license it seems that OOo is licensed under a dual license, One of them is the LGPL. I guess duali can be used here with no problem. The only problem is when people decide to use the other license http://www.openoffice.org/licenses/sissl_license.html but in that case i don't even care about them!.
