salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barkatuh -
i am working currently on the transliteration idea of making
phonetic version of the Quran... and in so doing, i've come
across a small (?) question...
look at Ayat #1 of Surat Al-Fatiha for example... the "lam"
in Allah has no fatha on it - only a shaddah (whereas it has a
shaddah and a fatha in any Quran
you look at) -- i can live with the fact that there is only
one "lam" with a shaddah (though i am getting confused -- should
there be one lam with a shaddah on it or a lam followed by a lam
with a shaddah on it) -- but the fact
that this lam doesn't have a fatha along with the shadda poses
a problem of how to deal with
shaddah -- notice the 'ra' in Al-Rahman has a shaddah and
a fatha on it -- this way, it can be easily converted to
Al-Rrahman (or Arrahman depending on whether or not i decide
to leave out the l) -- but the l in Allah... i mean
transliterating it by just repeating the lam i'd get bismi
Allhi alrrahmani... rather than bismi Allahi... (of course
i should get bismillahi but this is a different problem that
i can look into later on) -- i can set it
as a special case or something but i want to know if someone
can explain to me if i am missing something.
jazakumAllah khairan.
walsalam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barkauth.
