Salam, Honestly I was interested in testing it, because I love graphical plotting specially with sin and cosine and similar things. I used to do simple programmes with GWBasic basic 1989 in School :) I'll try to do what you suggested and get back here.
Hi Ossama,
I'd suggest that you try compiling a project at a time and attach the error messages that you have to your messages so people can help you.
As for bayani, just follow instructions on the INSTALL file, there are unfortunately no autotools implemented yet. And unfortunately too, there's no interest in compiling bayani yet :( As it is in early implementation stage. If you try to compile, just send the error log.
Salam,
Youcef.

I tried this on both RH 7.3 and RH 8, which were fully installed and updated to the latest errata. I tried other non-Arabeyes projects, and I was almost always successfull. Anyway, I will try the boot straping you told me about and see what happens.
Thanks for you help.

Sorry for the late answer for I don't have Internet connection at home. I tried almost all the project, and couldn't compile any. That's why I feel stupid :'(
You might want to check that you have all the development tools, i.e, autoconf, automake, libtool etc. On a descent Linux distribution you can install all of those by selecting a group or a task in the software installation manager.
Depending on the project, you might need different packages, so please check with the authors and the README and see whats missing.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried using ./autogen.sh but still it gave me errors! Isn't there any extensive help on this or more information. Or do I have to read A LOT till I can manage to do it my self?
thanks, Ossama Khayat

Assalamou Alaikom, I really need help in the following issues. So far, I tried so many times to download the test the source from the projects that we have like katoob, libquran, akka. I really feel i'm either stupid, or miss something! As far as I know, when I download the source, I will find the configure file so i can:
# ./configure # make # make install
Well, I find only configure.in and when I try to run it, it says permissions denied. So, I suppose it's a permissions problem and use:
You have to bootstrap the source first. Normally this is done with make -f Makefile.dist or make -f Makefile.cvs But some projects also provide a script for that, i.e. ./bootstrap or ./autogen.sh
