Hello Sir, I am a researcher at a laboratory of Computer science located in France. I am from Morocco and I wish to know more information about the tools and the services offered by your Arabeyes.com site.

Please check out our projects page. it gives you a list of what is active and what you want to use or contribute to. you can find it at:

My first
question is as follows: How I could write an Arabic document to save as PDF format. If it is possible, which tool I do have to use?

Yes it is possible. The easiest and simplest way is to download OpenOffice 1.1 for Linux or windows and enable the CTL option (CTL stands for Complex Text Litagure... or something like that). right what you like in Arabic then press the "Conver to PDF" button and voilla... you got your self a PDF in Arabic. Now if you don't want to go this way, I strongly recommend you get DocBook and make a docuemnt in it using any bidi (arabic enabled text editor. Vim 6.2+ is a good solid choice) then use the "dbtopdf" command to do that. The final option is to use Lyx and TEX to get your PDF. I am not very familiar with Tex, therefore, you have to look at it your self. There is a program called ArabTex you can google for. Hope this helps

My second
question is related to the Arabbix system (version 0.8) , I do not have start it. Because, it stops during the start-up and it displays some errors related to the lack of some directory or files.

Wondeful. Sounds like you have a bad image or there is a bug in the system. Can you send me the text of the error message and can you tell me if the same CD works on another machine. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Anmar

I thank you by
the advance. Sincerely, Abdelhamid
