Has anyone at least downloaded the files and gotten it to the point where you
can enter Arabic characters?
In case 'xset' caused an error for you, another way is to add it to the
XF86Config file. So,
copy the *.bdf files to a dir. Somewhere like /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/arabic
or whatever else you want to call it.
run mkfontdir on the directory
$ mkfontdir /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/arabic
and then edit the XF86Config file and add that to the list of FontPaths.
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/arabic"
And restart your X server. Then see if it added the fonts by:
$ xset -q

If you have any questions, fire away ;)
