How to develop ArabTeX

Al Salamu Alaikum

Peace be upon you all . I am Ahmad Zareef , a student in the faculty of Engineering , Cairo University .

At first I think I HAVE TO thank Prof.Dr. Klaus Lagally very much for his really wonderful ( program ) ArabTeX . I worked on TeX for a while , using some other multilingual packages but the output text was , unfortunately - Ugly !!! . Thank you Prof. Legally .

Now , my graduation project team and I are working on ArabTeX as a basis for our graduation project. Which is intended to be a LaTeX package for typesetting Traditional Arabic , mainly The Holy Quran .

The problem facing us is that we can't use new font other than xnsh14 , nor we ( till now ) can modify xnsh14 itself.

I understood that you are not using the font as Omega does for example , you are building the box from many smaller pieces to get ligatures and variant forms efficiently and in beautiful shape near to the Handwritten shape . While this is an intelligent manner - the problem is that WE cant easily configure or modify xnsh14, by adding special symbols like Qilly and Silly صلى و قلى  which means " Better not to stop " and " better to stop " respectively . And many other forms .

Other problem Arises that we Till now can't use Math mode .

Now can anybody answer these questions :
Is there any detailed documentations describing how to modify or develop ArabTeX , Is there a document like TeX the program for example
In case i want to add a character to the xnash14 how to do so knowing that it ( the character ) have a reserved place in the unicode set .

When i try to \allowarab \chardef the system halts !!! is this right !!! I am using RedHat Linux 9 and teTeX 1.

Thank you all , Thank you Prof. Lagally

Yours
Ahmad Zareef
