Re: GNOME

wa alaikum assalam!

Dear Youssef,

I have to disappoint you but I am no longer involved in Arabeyes. The main reason is that
I am working on my Master Thesis right now. And so I don't have time for translation.
I didn't even have time to answer your mail, as you can see by my late reply.
So I am also sorry that I can't even help you with tips and/or guiding.

But generally speaking to sync arabeyes cvs with gnome is easy after you know the basics!
take a look at this page:

http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gtp/resources.html

You'll get all the needed information.

Well I am no more coordinating the project.
So I can't give you any rights, as I don't have the rights to give you rights ;)
If you want I am sure everyone will be very happy if you take leadership.

Well advices... Most important of all you should know it is a difficult but rewarding thing..
You'll get sometimes frustrated but don't give up.
One real problem is in the Arabic world there is no audience for open source software..
So you'll not really work for an existing community.. to be hard you'll work only for yourself ;)
always consult dictionaries there are very sweet ones on the net..
ALSO consult the translation you see in the pos they are the work of many many people..
So really nice stuff there...

No I will not come back now, because I simply don't have any time ;)
And translating software is great, really sweet... But if the people you are translating for
are killing themselves on a daily basis, or laughing at you because you use Arabic software..
And simply the fact that I have to work to find a job! I have limited time..
And if I don't concentrate on my life I will invest time in other things and loose my track..

But sure if some day I have time again, I'll come back!

Yours
Arafat!
