Cool ;) Yeah, one tends to appreciate the difficulties of reading Arabic in ltr 
terminals when you see what it is like for ltr languages ;)

It handles it like it handles 'composed characters' to do that precisely.

I don't see how that (#2) can be communicated to PuTTY. You are not issuing 
commands to putty per se, putty is simply echoing your chracters (or am I
mistaken here?)

I am personally in favor of having it something under 'Appearance' or
along those lines. As far as command-line, maybe to start putty
'putty --bidi' or something like that ;) Otherwise and unless I have not
understood #2, I don't think it's possible.
