Here are some more names we could potentially use (I'm sure there are others
and it would be nice to have a more complete list of 'em all).
- Abu Bakir Al-Razi (doctor)
- Ibn Sina (doctor)
- Ibn Al-Nafees/Nafis (doctor)
- Al-Kindi (philosopher)
- Jabeer bin-hayan (chemistry)
- Hamurabi (law/schooling)
- Farazdaq (literature)
- Jareer (literature/poetry)
- Al-Mutanabi (poetry)
- Ibn Al-Atheer (historian/writer)
- Abbas bin Firnas (aerospace :-)
I also later stumbled on these sites,
http://www.muslimphilosophy.com
http://caribou.cc.trincoll.edu/depts_phil/philo/phils/muslim
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/hmd/arabic
http://www.halayaarab.com/a/entertainment/poets
Anmar, I'm not sure if you already picked a name for the new 1u (not
sure if hamurabi was too difficult to spell and is long - sina might
be an option) but we could add a page on philosophical thinkers (just
for grins) and tie our machine name to it, etc (it might be too much
work though). It was fun to read about some GREAT inspirational human
beings (looking forward to reading more about 'em later).
Sorry for the noise & Salam.
- Nadim
