http://www.it-republic.com and was not impressed to say the least.

I think we should find our the worthiness of this publication before we 
go asking who wants to contribute what ?

Allow me to use this opportunity to give you some more details about our
Magazine IT Repubhlic.

IT Republic is the first IT publication of Al Rashed Media & Publishing;
the trial issue was launched at this year’s GITEX and the first issue is
out now on the stands [dated, January 2004].



What makes us different from the other IT magazines in the region is
that we are not a ‘licensed international label’. What this means is
that we have the editorial freedom to look at and write about issues
from an impartial point of view.  Our marketing and editorial teams are
totally independent of each other and we don’t let business decisions
influence out editorial.



We believe in the Open Source movement. We want to extend our support to
your efforts. In the next issue [February 2004], we plan to have a
special section on Open Source. This section will continue to be a
regular feature if it proves beneficial to our readers and we get enough
responses.



Here is what we are planning for the February issue:

a)     Tutorial section for new Linux users

b)     Introduction and overiew of the Dubai LUG

c)     Columns and articles on the latest developments and challenges
facing the Open Source movement



We require your support for this initiative. You are most welcome to
contribute by sending in your articles, tutorials and columns. All
contributions will be acknowledged in the magazine and you will also
receive a free copy.
