'core' Elections 2004

Arabeyes [1] is proud to open the floodgates to its volunteers and
workers to partake in its first annual "election to constitute 'core'"
for the 2004-2005 year. You are all, per the Handbook [2] (which
resides on Arabeyes' "about" page [3]), asked to vote on the last
Thursday of October (which this year coincides to be Oct 28) to
elect a new 'core' team. Since this is the first election to be
held, a bit of verbosity is needed (do please note that the procedures
have deviated slightly from the aforementioned handbook due to delays
in deploying the voting webpages).

 1. Everyone who has had CVS activity in the past 12 months
as of Oct 28) will be allowed to vote.
 2. Everyone who has had CVS activity in the past 6 months will
be allowed to nominate themselves as a 'core' member.
 3. The nomination period will span,

      Oct. 18, 2004 [NOW] - Oct. 25, 2004 [23:59] (times in UTC)

Once the nomination period expires no one will be allowed
    to nominate themselves (no exceptions).
 4. Voting is to take place on Arabeyes' website and will span,

      Oct. 28, 2004 [00:00] - Oct. 28, 2004 [23:59] (times in UTC)

So a single complete day of voting opportunity.
 5. Each voter is to cast a maximum of 5 votes since 'core' will be
    constituted of 5 individuals.

To partake in the process, you'll need to login to Arabeyes' homepage
and click on the 'Nominate Yourself' and 'Vote' links (part of the
right menu) during the appropriate time-periods mentioned above.

PS: A 'core' (ie. management) position is something that should be
taken very seriously. The position will require extra time,
effort, commitment and dedication above and beyond what most
are familiar with. There is no 'glory' in holding the position
and it will be lots of work and responsibility. 'core', in essence,
exists to serve Arabeyes' volunteers and is to uphold Arabeyes'
goals to further the community's measurable results.

Do please be a part of this momentous occasion and participate in
earnest. Your say on how things proceed and who is to take leadership
roles in shaping the future is paramount to the survival and the future
prosperity of this project.
